Q-5. Explain what role women had in Nazi society. Return to Chapter 1 on the French Revolution. Write a paragraph comparing and contrasting the role of women in the two periods.
Answer:
- Women were considered to be different compared to men in Nazi Germany.
- The Nazis didn՚t believe in equivalent privileges for men and women because they thought that equal rights to men and women would destroy the society.
- From the childhood every girl was taught expecting her to become good mother, look after the home and rear pure — blooded Aryan children. Women who broke these rules were severely punished.
- During the French revolution women in France had asserted themselves strongly compared to the women in Nazi Germany.
- In France, many women՚s clubs were formed and they demanded equal rights as men. Because of their combined strength the government had announced laws for the better lives of women and education was made essential for girls in this regard.
- Nazi women՚s life was limited to their home where as the French women had freedom to work and run businesses.
- Later the French women also got the right for vote but it was denied to their Nazi counterparts.
Q-6. In what ways did the Nazi state seek to establish total control over its people?
Answer:
In 1933 Adolph Hitler grow as the Chancellor of Germany and had passed many laws in order to get total control on his people. On 28th February, 1933 the Fire Decree was passed. Here are some techniques which Nazi used to get control over its people:
- The Decree abolished freedom of speech, press and assembly
- They had set up Concentration Camps and the Communist were sent there.
- On 3rd March, 1933 the Enabling Act was passed
- Put ban on all other political parties
- Took complete control on the economy, media, army and judiciary.
- Hitler became a Dictator
- To get total control on the people Special Surveillance and Security forces were designed.
- The extraordinary powers were given to the Police, the Storm Troopers, the Gestapo, the SS, and the Security Service to control and order the society on Nazis condition.
