Q-9 To stitch a shirt 2 m 15 cm cloth is needed. Out of 40 m cloth, how many shirts can be stitched and how much cloth will remain?

Solution:

Clothrequiredtostichoneshirt=2m15cm

=2×100cm+15cm

=215cm

Lengthofcloth=40m=40×100cm=4000cm

Numberofshirtscanbestiched=4000÷215

Given the 4000 was divided by 215 and remaining value is 130

Given the 4000 Was Divided by 215

Given the 4000 was divided by 215 and remaining value is 130

Therefore, 18 shirts can be stitched and 130 cm (1 m 30 cm) cloth will remain.

Q-10 Medicine is packed in boxes, each weighing 4 kg 500 g. How many such boxes can be loaded in a can which cannot carry beyond 800 kg?

Solution:

The weight of one box =4kg500g

=4×1000g+500g=4500g

Maximum load that the van can take =800kg=800×1000g=8,00,000g

Therefore, number of boxes =8,00,000÷4500

Given the 800000 was divided by 4500 and the quotient is 177

Given the 800000 Was Divided by 4500

Given the 800000 was divided by 4500 and the quotient is 177

Hence, maximum 177 boxes can be loaded in the van. 3500 g or 3.5 kg capacity will be left

Q-11 The distance between the school and a student’s house is 1 km 875 m. Every day she walks both ways. Find the total distance covered by her in six days.

Solution:

Distance between school and house =1km875m

Now, 1km=1000m

Therefore, 1km875m=1875m

Distance between school and home =1875m

Distance between home and school =1875m

Total distance covered in one day (going to school and coming back) =1875m+1875m=3750m

Therefore, distance covered in 6 days =3750×6

Given the 3750 multiply by 6 and the answer is 22500

Given the 3750 Multiply by 6

Given the 3750 multiply by 6 and the answer is 22500

Therefore, Distancecoveredin6days=22,500m=22.5kmor22kmand500m

Q-12 A vessel has 4 liters and 500 ml of curd. In how many glasses each of 25 ml capacity, can it be filled?

Solution:

  • Capacity of curd in a vessel =4liters500ml=4×1000ml+500ml=4500ml

  • Capacity of one glass =25ml

  • Number of glasses can be filled =4500÷25

    Given the 4500 is divided by 25 and the Quotient is 180

    Given the 4500 Is Divided by 25

    Given the 4500 is divided by 25 and the Quotient is 180
