    • In most societies, the roles men and women play or the work they do are not valued equally.

    • They do not have the same status.

    • It is supposed that household works must be done by women while men do the office work.

    • The distinctions between boys and girls begins from a very young age.

    • For example, both of them given different toys to play with.

    • Boys are usually given cars to play with and girl’s dolls.

    • Additionally, they were told how girls must dress, what games boys should play, how girl’s need to talk softly or boys need to be tough.

    • The responsibility of housework i.e. looking after children, cooking, washing clothes, cleaning, looking after etc.

  • Invisible:-

    • It is a work which is noticed only when it is not done.

    • In other words, if household work like cleaning, organizing things etc. is not done properly, the house looks as if it has been hit by a hurricane.

    • It is expected that the house should be clean at all times, however, women have to put in great effort to maintain the cleanliness.

  • Physically Demanding:-

    • It requires a lot of effort to do household work.

    • Work like sweeping, mopping, washing clothes etc. is very strenuous.

  • Time Consuming:-

    • Household work takes up a lot of time of women.

    • It hence leaves them with very less time for leisure.

    • Cleaning the house, attending to children etc. are non-stop tasks.
