  • Two methods of struggle that the women’s movement used to raise issues:

    • Campaigning:-

      • It is an important part of the women’s movement to fight discrimination and violence against women.

      • It has led to new laws being passed.

      • A law was passed in 2006 to give women who face physical and mental violence, some legal protection.

      • The women’s movement led the Supreme Court to formulate guidelines in 1997 to protect women against sexual harassment at the workplace and within educational institutions.

      • The women’s movement also raised the issue of dowry - deaths.

      • As a result of their campaigns, this became a public issue in the newspapers and society.

      • The dowry laws were changed to punish families who seek dowry.

    • Rising Awareness:

      • It is also an important part of the women’s movement.

      • It raises public awareness on women’s rights issues.

      • Their message has been spread through street plays, songs and public meetings.

      • I had to organize a struggle against stereotypes, about what women can or cannot do, I would prefer to employ campaigning method.

      • I think this method would prove successful.

      • Various types of issues related to women are conveyed to the people at a mass level.

      • This method would make people aware.

      • By campaigning I would go to the decision- making authority and force it to do the needful in this connection.
