Functioning of the TMS

  • The cooperative took the responsibility of transport arrangement and selling of the catch at the reasonable price.
  • Earnings of the Fishworker՚s increased by a three-fold.

The fish-workers could also get the loans:

  • Buying new nets
  • Repair of nets

Impact of TMS

  • A committee to assess the issue of displacement was created by the government in a response to the protests made by the TMS.
  • As per the assessment done by the committee it was recommended that the villagers should be given the fishing rights for their livelihood.
  • Madhya Pradesh government in 1996 decided to give rights for the reservoir to the displaced people.
