7. Another component which help us in wellbeing and help in good growth of bones and teeth are called as minerals. Calcium is essential for good conditioning of our bones and teeth. Varieties of fruits, milk and milk products, broccoli and dark green, leafy vegetables contain different minerals.

8. Another nutrient which helps in maintaining the body temperature and acts as insulation is fat.


9. When we add a few drops of iodine solution on piece of potato, there is a sudden appearance of blue color. This is an indication of a carbohydrate like starch being present in the food substance.

10. Having an excess of one single nutrient is not healthy for our body like for example intake of excess of fats can make a person fat and suffer from a condition called obesity.

11. Depriving of any nutrient, in the long run can lead to deficiency. Deficiency of one or more nutrients can cause disease or disorders in our body which are called deficiency diseases.

12. Besides the nutrients our body needs dietary fibers also called roughage provided by plant products in our food.

13. Water helps our body to absorb nutrients from food. It also helps in throwing some wastes from body as urine and sweat.

14. We must take care that we eat foods which contain all the types of nutrients and roughage. This helps us to strike a balance of all the requirements of a healthy diet and a healthy living and is called a balanced diet.
