This Legal system is an influence of Common and Continental legal system. The countries which follow socialist and Marxist philosophy adopt this law system. The important features are as follows:

  • Legal rules are not considered permanent: In the legal system is, law is considered to be of temporary in nature. At a certain point of time there is no need of such principles of law. They are revolutionary; they do not consider old laws which continue to support private rights and free markets.

  • Importance of public law: Here private law has no space all are public laws which means state is of prime importance. Private law of relation between citizens to citizen is of less importance.

  • No judicial review of administrative action and law passed by the legislature: Unity of all state bodies and its superiority is of prime importance. Constitution of socialist countries is supreme legal force.

  • Influence of continental legal system: All the aspects of continental legal system are practiced in socialist system except of private law. This legal system is an integrated legal system where lawyers have no specific zone or area to reference but they can move freely from one chapter to another to gather information and knowledge. They are not bound to be adversarial to the judge.

In this principle are formulated to enhance the interaction between the nations, international institutions and organizations. Their main task is to promote peace and security between nations. Roles of international legal system are as follows:

  • Role of treaties: These treaties bind the nations to carry out their responsibilities according the provisions under the guideline of the international legal system. The breach of treaty would be accountable for some compensation for the liable party. The treaty must be followed in good faith of all the countries signing the treaty.

  • United nations: The United Nations is central to whole International legal system. Several other institutions follow the adopted the format of treaties as per framed by United Nations. The Security Council is the most important and powerful organ of United Nations. It observes the peace and security maintained by all other international institutions.

  • European Union: A regional organization specially working towards the economic and political unity of European countries. It developed a common market for member countries. It involves 22 member European countries and 4 non-European countries. It binds all the fundamental rights of member countries and common traditions of European nations.

  • South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation: This association was established by South Asian countries of India. It promotes free trade and amity amongst the member countries, prevention of trafficking of women and children, prostitution, suppress terrorism.
